About the 10 Minute Trainer Creator: Tony Horton
Tony Horton was born in 1958 in the small town of Westerly, Rhode Island. Because his father was in service with the ROTC Tony and his family moved around frequently. By the time Tony was 10 his family had already moved five different times. Tony, however, didn’t mind the frequent moving ventures. He enjoyed each new place and became exceptionally good at making new friends. In fact, it was for this reason Tony later thought about becoming an actor. He wasn’t shy and possessed a confidence that he knew would take him anywhere his dreams led him.
While Tony wasn’t an exceptional athlete growing up, he did attain some athletic ability from his father. He enjoyed gymnastics and skiing but never quite managed to obtain the body he desired. Although Tony didn’t have a complete handle on physical fitness he was a decent student. His academic drive eventually led him to the University of Rohde Island in 1976 and it was there he finally got a true grasp on his fitness. He learned that being fit could potentially land him into some acting roles. Even though he thought it might be a long shot, Tony figured getting in shape couldn’t hurt.
After he graduated college he moved to L.A. to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. But because an aspiring acting career doesn’t pay all the bills he took other random and various jobs to help make ends meet. He was a handy man for Dom DeLuise, a stand up comedian, a waiter, Dolly Parton’s gardener, and even at one point a go-go dancer. It was during this time Tony began to get into the best shape of his life. He even began to train his co-workers and studio executives. It was through this that Tony finally found his real passion. Being a personal trainer. And he has taken that desire and brought it to the world through he workout systems like P90X, P90X2, P90X3, and of course 10-Minute Trainer.
