About the Hip Hop Abs Creator: Shaun T
Shaun T’s real name is actually Shaun Thompson. He grew up as a New Jersey native and from the time he was young, he was actively involved in sports. In which he found himself to be a stand out amongst many of his other peers. Shaun not only excelled on the field but he also did exceptionally well in the classroom as well. It was the combination of being both talented in the arena of sports and in academics that landed him a choice between two different collegiate scholarships. His first option was a sports scholarship at one university or his second option was an academic scholarship to a different university. After some serious consideration, Shaun decided to go the academic route and it landed him at Rowan University. Little did he know, it was this choice that was going to lead him down the path to become the Shaun T we know and love today.
While at Rowan Shaun dived in to the college scene like any other student. He enjoyed meeting new people, going to class, and also indulging in his unlimited cafeteria card. One day, Shaun happened to look in the mirror and what he saw starring back shocked him. He didn’t even recognize the guy looking back. What had once been an athlete’s body was now a body that left a little more than something to be desired. He decided right then and there he was going to make a change. And boy did he ever. He started working out religiously and even changed his major to sports medicine. It was through this change that he discovered his zeal and passion for being a personal trainer.
After Shaun graduated from Rowan with a B.S. degree in sports medicine, he moved to L.A. California. Here he began a career in choreograph and dance. He soon opened his own studio and in no time at all became one of the most popular trainers in the area. In fact, his popularity grew so much that it attracted the attention of the well-known company, Beachbody. Lisa Ross, Vice President of Beachbody, decided she was going to see what Shaun T had firsthand. So she attended one of his studio classes. After, she approached him about coming and making a pitch to the CEO of the company, Carl Daikeler.
