About Insanity Creator: Shaun T
Shaun T is a New Jersey native who has a drive and a passion for personal training. He makes it his goal in life to help people just like you achieve their maximum fitness potential. But he wasn’t always that way. When Shaun was a senior in high school he was presented with two options. One, he could either go to a university with an athletic scholarship, or he could go to Rowan for an academic scholarship. After serious consideration he chose Rowan. Little did he know though, he had just made a choice that would take him down his own road of transformation. And it would lead him straight to the Shaun T we know and love today.
Once Shaun T arrived at Rowan he wasted no time in making new friends, attending classes, and of course indulging in the unlimited cafeteria card he possessed. One day, when Shaun T looked in the mirror he saw something that dismayed him. The once fit athlete was no longer there and instead had been replaced with something Shaun didn’t recognize. Not wanting to be done in, Shaun started working out religiously and even changed his major to sports science. From that he then discovered his true calling. Personal Training. The passion he felt for personal training fed his drive to gain his B.S. and move to L.A. where he begun a career in choreographing and dance. It was from there he was lead to open up his own studios where he combined dance and fitness.
Shaun’s popularity continued to soar and his classes were some of the most sought after in L.A. People would line up for blocks to just get a glimpse of his energy that he brought into his workouts and choreography. It was at one of those classes that Vice President of Beach Body, Lara Ross, attended. She wanted to make an offer to Shaun T and bring him to Beach Body headquarters to show CEO, Carl Daikeler, what he had. Shaun T, not wanting to miss this opportunity, showed up with his team and blew everyone out of the water. And it was in February 2007 that Shaun T launched his world known workout, Hip Hop Abs. After that, the rest is history. Shaun continued to grow in fame and popularity, and in July of 2009 Beach Body released his now richly sought after workout system, Insanity.
Unpacking the Insane
There are several things you need to know about Insanity. One, obviously, it’s insane. This workout is not easy and no one wants you to assume it is. This workout is designed to take your body to its absolute maximum fitness potential. Even Shaun will tell you, this workout could be, without a doubt, one of the hardest workouts you’ll ever do. So this then begs the question, why would you even put yourself through that? Thankfully there’s more than one answer.
First of all, you will get a year’s worth of results in only 60 days. How is this possible may you ask? Shaun T makes this reality come alive through the use of Max Interval Training. This type of training is exactly opposite of the old school style of interval training. By old school we mean, for example, say you’re on a run. You’ll run along at a moderate pace for a few minutes and then all of a sudden you’ll go as fast as you can for several seconds to about a minute or so. After that you slow your pace back down giving yourself an overly adequate amount of time to catch your breath. M.I.T. is different because, as was said, it’s exactly the opposite. You work as hard as you can for about 3 to 5 minutes and then stop only long enough to get a breath or two of air and then it’s right back too it. This method forces your body to adapt to change. And it keeps you working at your maximum capacity, which forces your body to be pushed to its limit. While tough, this produces maximum results very quickly.
Secondly, you’ll get the colorful stylings of Shaun T as your personal trainer. Through his guidance you will be able to see your body transform right in front of your eyes.
