Tony Horton has done it again. He has taken his revolutionary P90X workout and reprogrammed it to deliver you an even more intense bodybuilding regime in his new system P90X2. Like P90X, P90X2 is a 90-day system, but this time it uses new and modern exercises based on a breakthrough sports training technique called Muscle Integration. Whether you are an athlete, fitness guru, or someone who is ready to take that leap into fitness, Tony will help guide you through his 12 part series and transform your body into its ultimate potential. And as before, you can achieve this without even leaving the comfort of your own home.
About the Founder: Tony Horton
Since his early beginnings as a personal trainer, Tony has constantly sought to create new and cutting-edge workout routines. During his time in LA, Tony partnered up with the CEO of Beach Body, Carl Daikaler. Carl asked Tony to create a new revolutionary workout system that would help achieve results quickly, for those individuals who wanted to take their fitness to the next level. So, over the course of a year, Tony worked on engineering a routine that could not only be done in the individual’s home, eliminating the need for expensive gym memberships. But also, contain a complete diet plan to help maximize fitness potential. And in 2003, as history knows, P90X was born.
After P90X’s debut, Tony has continued to take the fitness world by storm. His innovative technique of Muscle Confusion has helped thousands of people transform their bodies into muscle machines. Now, almost 10 years later, Tony as mastered a new technique, Muscle Integration.
P90X2 Muscle Integration: Strength Through Instability
Muscle Integration is a revolutionary training technique that is used by all of today’s finest athletes. The major key in Muscle Integration is instability. In P90X2 you will utilize this technique by preforming moves and exercises that require you to balance on an unstable foundation. Such as one foot, a ball, or any other surface that requires you to stabilize yourself as you lift and work through the movements. What this does is it forces your body to steady itself, which engages more muscles than on a normal, flat, stable surface. The more muscles that are engaged, the more fat and calories you burn, which in turn provides you a more ripped and fit physic.
While Muscle Integration is still a relatively new concept, it has been proven to be immensely effective. For example, unlike the old school method of isolating specific muscle groups, Muscle Integration engages all your muscles in the Kinetic Chain. The Kinetic Chain is a chain of joints and body tissues (i.e. muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia) that act together. When your Kinetic Chain is engaged dynamic movement takes place. It’s this dynamic movement that helps build your muscles stronger and faster than isolation alone. In fact, it’s even been proven that isolating muscle groups as you work out can increase your risk of injury. P90X2, however, engages all of your muscles in every move by using an unstable platform. This in turn forces your body to engage its Kinetic Chain, which leads to greater strength, stability, and stamina.
As Tony started to develop P90X2 he turned to professional athletes for guidance. He watched them engage in their everyday workout routine and was fascinated at how often they used the practice of Muscle Integration. Through observing those athletes and recruiting help from sports scientists, Tony was able to design a workout comparable to a professional athletes’. But was able to avoid the big price tag that normally comes with it.
P90X2 at its Core
Even though Muscle Integration is the main focus of this new system, Tony made sure to include his revolutionary technique of Muscle Confusion. During the 90-day system you will engage in 12 different workouts that will help build your agility, core strength, balance, and athleticism. Just as in P90X, everyday with P90X2 brings you a different, yet muscle-ripping, workout.
P90X2 is broken down into three phases. Phase One was designed to help build your foundation and focus primarily on core and balance. Two of the workouts used in Phase One are X2 Core, which works the core using instability; and X2 Balance + Power, which combines plyometric or jump training, strength, and more.
Phase Two focuses primarily on strength. You will engage in workouts like Plyocide, which combines explosive movements with mind and coordination drills. Chest + Back + Balance will also become familiar to you in this phase, which helps you gain strength and balance by preforming all your moves on an unstable platform.
Phase Three will round out your 90 days with the primary focus of performance. Workouts such as P.A.P. (Post-Activation Potentiation) Lower and P.A.P. upper will be used. These are two separate workouts that use the training techniques of some of the world’s finest athletes. Both workouts use a series of repeated movements of “complexes” that will do more than tickle.
You will also see several other workouts in the P90X2 system. Including, X2 Recovery + Mobility, which will give you a much needed break to help realign your body. X2 Total Body, which uses instability and resistance to give you pure unadulterated muscle-building efficiency. X2 Yoga will improve your range of motion, strengthen stabilizer muscles, and increase isometric power. You’ll also see X2 Shoulders + Arms, Base + Back, and of course the infamous X2 AB Ripper. P90X2 Results, Reasons, & Resources
One of the many benefits to the P90X2 workout is, when you order the kit, you will receive a workout calendar, a fitness guide, a nutritional guide, and of course the 13 DVD’s containing the 12 workouts. The only equipment you’ll need to properly preform this system is a stability ball, dumb bells, medicine balls, and a foam roller. All of these things can be purchased through kits from Beach Body, or you can purchase them separately on your own.
Another benefit to this program is how seriously Tony takes nutrition. He understands that it’s not only about exercising correctly, but it’s also about eating right. Without the proper diet you might as well kiss the effectiveness of your workouts goodbye. So, to help you, he included in the basic kit a nutritional guide that will help show you the proper meals to eat, the right amounts, and the foods that are best for your body type.
P90X2 is a program designed for anyone who is looking to take that next step in his or her fitness level. Because of the intensity of some of the workouts, it is recommended that you go through the P90X workout first. That or you at least hold a fitness level capable of doing more advanced/difficult exercises and movements. P90X2 was created for those who are serious about their physical fitness. It’s not meant to be easy, but it can still be fun and enjoyable. As you see your body transform you will be able to take pride and joy in the fact that you have worked hard and you deserve the body you now have. Although it can be argued the most enjoyable part will come at the end of every workout when you can turn off the TV and be finished for the day.
One of the common themes throughout this workout is “Get On The Ball”. And this is true in more ways than one. Not only do you have the literal “ball”, which will become one of your best friends by the end of the 90-days, but you also will have the figurative “ball”. As said before P90X2 isn’t designed for comfort or ease. It’s meant to push you to your limits in both the realms of physical and mental. P90X2 is meant to take up 6 days of your week and about an hour of time everyday. If done properly you will not only be satisfyingly exhausted but you’ll feel the burn in your muscles at the end of every workout. And just like in P90X you’ll have the option of X2 Recovery + Mobility to do on your days off.
Only you can decide if this workout program is right for you. This new revolutionary workout isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you are willing to commit and do what it takes you’ll be able to transform your body into something that would make even the finest athletes jealous. And if you’re feeling super motivated, Tony has even designed two bonus DVDs (V Sculpt & X Chest + Shoulders + Tris) which can push you even further in your fitness level. But don’t be worried about going in it alone. Tony and his crew will be there for you every step of the way, as well as online support groups. Any questions, comments, or concerns you have can be addressed.
