About the Tai Cheng Creator: Dr. Mark Cheng
Dr. Mark Cheng is a master trainer in the practice of martial arts. He holds a PhD in Chinese medicine and acupuncture and has 3 decades of experience in the art of Tai Chi. He also is a licensed acupuncturist as well as a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.
Dr. Cheng took his years of experience and expertise and combined them to create what is now Tai Cheng. He combined the practices of Tai Chi and Qi Gong with modern sports science and functional movement training. His goal is to help individuals, like you, who need to improve in overall bodily health.
Currently Dr. Cheng lives in Santa Monica, California and he’s always looking to gain more knowledge and understanding into overall body wellness. He wants to make sure that the individual is given a safe, holistic, and peaceful workout. This has led to his current thriving practice and he continues to travel the world to attend health conferences to further his ability to help his client base.
How Tai Cheng Works
Tai Cheng uses two different styles of martial arts to bring this workout to life. The first is Tai Chi. Tai Chi, which formally translates as “Supreme Ultimate Fist”, is the practice of a Chinese martial art that revolves around the duality concept of balanced yin and yang energies. Here in the United States we see this in something such as positive-negative, hot-cold, light-dark, etc. If you put it in strategy and combat terms, Tai Chi uses both power and speed movements, like those is taekwondo or karate, as well as slow and smooth movements, such as yoga or dance.
This one of the mostly widely practiced exercises in the world because of it’s zero impact in nature. In China, this practice is popular among the elderly and it continues to increase in popularity in older generations throughout the globe. The second style Tai Cheng uses is Qi Gong. First you’ll learn individual movements, then you’ll join those movements with others to make combinations, and finally you build it until those combinations are longer in series.
