About The P90 Creator Tony Horton:
Tony Horton’s story began with a humble beginning. Born in1958 in the small town of Westerly, Rhode Island, Tony lived there with his mother and father. His father was in the service with ROTC and because of this was required to move from location to location frequently. In fact, by the time Tony was 10 his family and he had already moved 5 different times. However, instead of getting discouraged, Tony embraced each move and enjoyed making new friends at each place they lived. He wasn’t shy and enjoyed interacting with others. It was for this very reason Tony decided to try and become an actor.
Even though Tony was never much of an athlete growing up, he did inherit some of his father’s athletic abilities. He enjoyed skiing and gymnastics, but where he truly excelled was academics. This ability is what led him to the University of Rhode Island in 1976, and it was here where he first got a taste of true fitness. Tony knew that if he wanted to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor he needed to amp up his fitness level. So, while at the University, Tony took his first steps into becoming the Tony Horton we know and love today.
After graduation, Tony moved to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of his acting dreams. Because an aspiring acting career doesn’t exactly pay the bills, Tony took other various jobs. He was a stand up comedian, a waiter, Dolly Parton’s gardener, and even a go-go dancer. During this time, Tony began to take fitness even more seriously. He began to get into the best shape of his life, and even trained co-workers and studio executives. Through all of that, Tony finally found his true passion in life. He wanted to be a personal trainer. Tony took that desire and later paired up with Beachbody to create the infamous workouts P90X, P90X2, P90X3, 10-Minute Trainer, and of course the all-new P90.
P90: Behind the Scenes
P90 is the brand new workout by Tony Horton and Beachbody. (In fact, P90 is so new it won’t be released to the public until Fall 2014.) P90: How it Works
P90 differs from its P90X counterparts in a variety of ways. First, as stated earlier, it is a less extreme version than P90X. Secondly, unlike where P90X uses a set series of workouts that are used throughout the entire 90 days, P90 uses a new game-changing technique called Sectional Progression.
Sectional Progression works by easing you into a variety of cardio, strength, and stability moves. These moves work to strengthen the back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, and legs. All the while each move works your core helping to strengthen and flatten your abs. The routine stays the same and does not get harder until you are ready to step it up for the next challenge. Then, once you’re ready, Tony ups the ante to the next level.
The reason Sectional Progression is so effective is because it doesn’t put immediate strain on your body. For instance, a workout like P90X has you jump straight into extreme moves that unless you’re ready for, can prove to be almost impossible. In P90, however, Tony starts it off at a slower pace with moves that are far less extreme and much more realistic for beginners. P90 is essentially a building block in fitness. P90: The Workouts Involved
P90, as said earlier, is a progressive workout. This fitness program combines 10 all-new workouts that are arranged in 3 Progressive Phases. The first phase is your foundation. Its here in the first 30 days where you will build up your initial endurance and strength that will help carry you through the entire 90 days. In Phase 1, you can expect to see a leaner body and more solid muscle.
