As a guy, one of the things I was wondering is how PiYo would work for me. Now, I have done both Yoga and Pilates and I always had this trepidation about them to start. I took some classes at my gym and yoga was not for me. It just was not active enough to keep me interested for a full hour. Pilates felt like more work and kept me interested much longer. I feel like Pilates really helped me with my running while I was doing it. My problem was, and still is, that my gym does the Pilates Mat classes during the day when I am at the office. It really is not feasible for me to leave work and go to a class for an hour.
Piyo for Men – What attracted me
PiYo, being new really interested me. From the name you get that it is a mix of Pilates and Yoga but, in reality, it is much more than that. Yes it is a mat workout and yes you do some Pilates and Yoga workouts but the workouts are much more than that. Will it bulk you up like p90X? No, this is a workout more for building long lean muscles and not the big muscles.
I think it is really good for runners, and has been very helpful to me to improve my strength and my running form without the impact running does.
You can find a PiYo Strength class near you, but what is also nice about the video’s is that you have specific video’s that target specific parts of the body as well as more intense workouts to get that sweat on that will make you feel like you did a great workout. With these short video’s, you can also incorporate them into your fitness routine without much more of a time commitment.
